Our culture champions hyper-independence. We’re taught to be self-sufficient, to not need anyone, to stand on our own. But that’s a myth—one that comes at a steep cost. The truth? We are wired for connection. • Our nervous systems don’t regulate in isolation; they regulate through others. • Our well-being depends on relationships, not just willpower. • Even our survival—psychologically and physically—depends on the people around us. Our Western culture of individualism tells us we should be stronger alone. But real strength is built in relationship—in the give and take, the vulnerability, the shared experience of being human.
