rules i have as a full time nanny !! 1. we will get outside at least once a day rain or shine 2. we don’t use screens unless it’s a special occasion or we’re not feeling well and need some downtime 3. we say please and thank you and talk nicely 4. we clean up after ourselves (always leave the house better than we found it!) 5. we wash our face and hands (no dirty faces around here!) 6. i go to church on Sundays! the parents know that, so if the parents want help on a sunday, we will be going to church in the morning. 7. there will be consequences if we’re not going to listen or play nicely 8. we will play independently for a little bit each day #nanny #nannylife #rules #nannying #boundaries

lessons i’ve learned since becoming a full time nanny: it’s okay to feel exhausted after caring for someone else’s kids. i used to feel guilty for being tired after nannying because it’s not my kid and im paid to do it. but taking care of kids, teaching them, disciplining them, and loving them is so emotional and tiring sometimes. it’s okay to feel that way! it’s okay to feel attached. some people get worried about the attachment when a nanny isn’t a permanent part of the household. it’s okay to get attached and love deeply! kids need that connection and care and love. yes, it may hurt in the end, but the present will be so much more fun and meaningful when you’re attached. it’s okay to take a break during the day. at first i felt so weird reading my book or having downtime during nap time. i would look for things to do instead. but i’ve found that like every job, a break is a must. i make sure to get all my tasks done so that i can have some downtime and be ready to go for the afternoon. i’m a better nanny when i have some downtime and my nanny family WANTS me to have that time for myself. it’s okay to advocate for yourself. finding a nanny family that fits your expectations can sometimes be really hard. it can be so easy to take a job simply because it’s a job. it’s okay to go into interviews with your own expectations (contract, benefits, guaranteed hours, etc). if a family isn’t a good fit, it’s okay! #nanny #nannylife #lessons #relatable #nannytips

things my nanny family and i do that i didn’t realize were controversial until i started posting my nanny content !! 1. my nanny family knows all my family members and allows me to take my nanny toddler to my family events or even just to hang out with them. 2. my husband is often around and will hang out with my nanny parents sometimes as well! 3. if we stay for a week or a weekend, my husband comes along and we play house! 4. my nanny family will cover meals for my husband as well if we go out/ order food in. 5. i brought my sister with me on my nanny family’s trip! 6. they let us use their things whenever! i still have my nanny moms golf clubs at my house 😅 7. we hang out at my house a lot! 8. i treat my nanny toddler as my own. no, he’s not mine, but when im in charge, i treat him like he is. i would never do something with him that i wouldn’t ever do with my own kids (someday). 9. i give kisses and let my nanny toddler know how much he’s loved. this is so important! 10. we treat our relationship as personal while still being professional. i want to nanny for a family i genuinely love spending time with and who are invested in my life outside of their home! i hit the jackpot. :) #nanny #nannylife #controversial #nannying #nannyfamily
