For the past several months, I’ve taken a deeper look at the growing influence of Christian nationalism, an ideology rooted in the belief that the United States was founded as a Christian nation and that its laws and institutions should reflect Christian values. The reporting has taken me to parts of the country where this movement is more than just a religion, it’s a life calling. I’ve talked to fascinating people along the way, and I have a lot of material to share with you all. I’m excited to announce that my hourlong documentary, “The Whole Story: The Rise of Christian Nationalism,” airs this Sunday, 2/22, at 8pm EST on CNN and our streaming platforms.

We cannot overstate the importance of @d_l_mayfield’s work right now. We’re grateful we were able to sit down with them and hear their research on how American Christian fascism and Nazi/German Christian fascism share the same roots: an obsession with the nuclear, heteronormative family, intertwined with authoritarian, high-control religion that ultimately harms and abuses children. We’ve followed DL’s work for a long time. In light of the Epstein files coming to light, we’re especially grateful they are receiving wider attention for exposing Focus on the Family as rotten fruit with generational impact. We know it can be difficult to hear these honest and necessary critiques of Christianity’s history, and perhaps, even of our own complicity. But we have to be willing to admit what can and cannot be reformed. If it doesn’t protect children, burn it down.

“Christian Nationalists” is the latest Liberal gaslight Narrative. Fact: many of the Founding Fathers were Bible-believing Christians. And this nation’s laws and values were established according to Bibe-based values. When you try to move the nation off of its Biblical foundation, the whole thing falls apart. It cannot stand on another foundation. So, to buy into this CNN spin, you have to ignore history. You have to ignore facts. And you have to ignore Scripture. If Republicans (many of whom are Christians) said, “Give a pass to the guilty pedophiles who are Republicans,” that would certainly be wrong. Pedophilia is wrong. Period. Regardless of party. Pedophiles who masqueraded as church pastors have been arrested in decades past. I know because I was a victim of such a person. Regardless of claims to party or even religion, pedophilia is always wrong, and any individual who engages in it should be arrested and brought to Justice. This stem from a Christian ethic rooted in doctrine: “All have sinned.” That is, the capacity for atrocious evil is a human trait… Think it through…
