✨ N A T U R A L M A G I C ✨ A controversial topic, but an important one nonetheless. Especially for those who are looking to work with and understand ancestral practices. Natural magic is essentially working with the earth's cycles, rhythms and energies to enhance spiritual practices. The concept of natural magic is something which has been practiced in various cultures worldwide, usually by that culture's spiritual teacher such as a shaman, druid, witch or healer. To truly understand how our ancestors lived and worked, we must first understand how they perceived the world. To them, the world was full of magic, mystery, signs and omens. They had no explanation for why the sun would rise and fall each day, or why the plant world would thrive during some seasons but decay in others, so they practiced rituals which would celebrate these natural phenomena. In indigenous Britain and Ireland, most of the time this formed into large gatherings which today we know as the Solstices, Equinoxes and Cross-Quarter festivals, and usually involves a celebration and worship of the sun. Each season had its own underlying sacred energy and was an opportunity for reflection and transformation, of working with the earth's rhythms and tuning in to this sacred energetic field. Today, this is known as 'Earthing', which is when we connect with the earth's surface electrons by immersing ourselves in nature. This enhances wellbeing and reduces stress which then in turn helps us get into deep meditative and trance-like states during rituals, ceremonies and other spiritual practices.
