Wondering how Northern Cardinals raise their young? Both parents share the role of feeding their nestlings a diet of insects just like the family in this video. 💓 It takes about 9-11 days for the young to leave the nest—and once they do, the male may continue to feed them while the female begins their next nesting attempt of the season. Teaching Kyō how to fly! 🐦 Wait till the end for the big payoff 😆 I rescued Kyō the White-Winged Dove as a little nestling during hurricane Hannah and was able to rear & release him thanks to the help of @chonky_shark ! She’s a wildlife rehabber and told me everything that I had to do! I love seeing his flight progress. This is definitely one of the coolest things I’ve ever gotten the chance to do ☺️ pretty sure he has a girlfriend now and is living his best bird life out there 🙌🏽 ————————————————————————⠀⠀⠀ Enseñándole a Kyō como volar!

Great Egrets…☀️ The chicks are finally tall enough to meet their parent halfway. In the nest, these young Great Egrets stretch up reaching with everything they’ve got. Feeding isn’t gentle here. Each chick grabs hold of the adult’s bill, tugging with determination, hoping to claim a bite of regurgitated fish. It may look a little rough, but this is just how they learn to compete and survive in the wetlands and beyond. It’s been fascinating to watch the chick grow up! This heart-warming video will have you purring with happiness! 🐈❤️ Tabitha or dear “Tabby”, as she is affectionately known, is paying the kindness forward with her nurturing instincts coming to the fore. Often found nestling in our warm incubator or vet room, she finds her patch with new arrivals, ensuring neither finds coldness, only kindness. Gently licking clean orphaned lambs and goats has now become Tabby’s daily chore, along with her snuggling-up duties. In a world of so much sadness and gloom, that threatens to overwhelm our compassion, these beautiful moments remind us of the eternal power of kindness and its ability to enrich the lives not only of all it touches but those too who witness it. 📷 Tabitha and Miss Hap ❤️

Remember this Great Blue Heron nestling that came into care about two weeks ago? This is them now! This young heron is still very talkative and is now self-feeding. They are doing very well in care thanks to the hard work of the hospital team and your support! Once old enough to fly and fend for themselves this heron will be released back into the wild.

Fresh and frisky for a gentle exam. She's just a handful; but she'll be a handful! The size of this nestling Great Horned Owl from last year betrays little of the fierce predator she'll quickly grow into. This October we need your help to raise $10,000 in honor of the incredible owl species we care for at CWC! Every dollar you give supports the care of our patients. Click the link in our bio to donate today! #wildliferescue #wildliferehab #wildliferehabilitation #owl #owls #greathornedowl

A newly banded kestrel nestling letting me know what he thinks of me. @hawkwatch is hiring interns to help with their kestrel project.
