how to snoop on network traffic: use a TAP! it’s better than a hub for this kind of a thing for sure 😂 TAP sometimes stands for Test Access Point, or can just be meant literally (“tapping into” network traffic). a network tap is a hardware device that passively copies network data for monitoring or analysis. it’s inserted between network segments so that all traffic can be observed by tools (like analyzers or security appliances) without interrupting or altering actual data flow. if you use many taps at the same time, some managed network switches allow you to set up Tap Aggregation. tap agg will allows combining all your tapped traffic flows into one & gives them unique identifiers by using 802.1Q (VLAN) tags. tap aggregation makes for a nice organized test setup—trust me! 😉 #networkengineer #ethernet #homelab #womenintech

⚙️ Behind every stable network is a toolkit that gets the job done. From cable testing to wireless analysis, these are the essentials every network engineer relies on daily. 🔌📡💻 Build it right. Test it twice. Keep it running. 🚀

25Gbps Internet Speed Test on MacBook This time I pushed my Mac to the limit and successfully reached 25Gbps upload & download speeds! Previously, I had done a similar test on my server, but now it’s running perfectly on macOS too. I connected an SFP28 network card via a PCIe-to-Thunderbolt 4 adapter — and the Mac recognized it instantly, no drivers needed! Setup & Equipment: • ISP: @init7_net (25Gbps bandwidth) • Router: MikroTik CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS (VPN Router) • Adapter: Sonnet Echo Express SE I – Thunderbolt 3 Edition • Transceiver: SFP28 BO27Q856S1D • NIC: Mellanox ConnectX-4 Lx EN 💻 Bonus: The same setup works flawlessly on Windows laptops with Thunderbolt as well. #MacOS #MacLife #25Gbps #Thunderbolt4 #Networking #HighSpeedInternet #Init7 #MikroTik #Mellanox #TechSetup #NetworkEngineering #InternetSpeed #Thunderbolt #PCIE #MacNetworking #TechLife #ServerLife #SpeedTest #FiberInternet #DataCenter

You don’t notice Wi-Fi until it fails. Same room. Same router. Yet one signal survives walls, while the other fades fast. This isn’t about which frequency is “better.” It’s about how invisible energy interacts with matter. 2.4 GHz spreads wider and endures resistance. 5 GHz carries more data, but loses strength faster when obstacles interfere. Both begin the same. Their outcomes are shaped by the space they move through. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. Comment “NETWORK” to get links! 🌐 Want to truly understand how the internet works, not just memorize definitions? This mini roadmap will take you from zero to confident in computer networking, step by step. 📚 Start with the OSI model and real life examples so you can visualize what actually happens when you send a request, open an app or join a call. 🧩 Then go deeper into bits, bytes, IP addressing, ports, TCP IP, routing, switching and the core protocols every backend, cloud and devops engineer must know. 🎓 These videos are perfect if you are preparing for coding interviews, CCNA style questions, system design, or just want to build a solid foundation for Kubernetes, microservices and scalable backend systems. 💡 Tip: watch with notes on, pause and sketch the network flows yourself. Recreate the examples and explain each layer out loud as if you were teaching a friend. 🚀 Save this post so you can come back to the roadmap and share it with someone who still thinks networking is just wifi. Your future self as an engineer will thank you.
