This broke my heart! Our son needed open heart surgery to save his life when he was 7 days old.. however a few days later his scar became infected which turned into sepsis. He needed an urgent general anesthetic so they could go back into his chest and clean out any infection. Because of this he had to be nil by mouth… he wouldn’t settle on me as I was breastfeeding and he could smell my milk and was so hungry. There were no nurses available to help me, so I had to lay him in his buggy and rock him whilst we both cried! He had a dummy / pacifier which he kept spitting out and just wouldn’t settle until he cried himself to sleep. 💔💔 I videoed this to show the nurses how much he was crying, and am sharing it to show the heartbreak us medical parents go through 💔 #nicu #newborn #chd #heartwarrior #crybaby

After 45 days in the NICU, we’re finally going home. The longest 6 weeks of our lives and also the most humbling. We are forever grateful for the incredible teams at UCLH and Saint Mary’s. The nurses, doctors and staff who cared for our girls with so much skill, patience and kindness. We learned so much from you and felt supported every single day. Today we leave with our three tiny girls and very full hearts. Thank you for helping our triplet girls get strong enough to come home.
