In September last year, TV presenter and psychologist Nigel Latta announced he had incurable cancer, and only had a few months to live. It was only a few months later that Latta revealed a mixture of chemotherapy and medicine had removed the terminal aspect of his diagnosis. However, his experience with cancer has put things into perspective. “After you take care of the basics and you can pay the bills and feed the kids and do all that kinda stuff, [money] doesn’t matter. I’d trade anything to be free of the whole cancer cloak. “The money stuff literally doesn’t matter to me. What matters is time. Money buys me time because insurance has meant that I’ve been able to get access to some of those drugs and, literally, I think I’d be dead now if I hadn’t been able to do that.” 🎙️ Listen to the full podcast via the link in our bio.

Nigel Latta was endlessly selfless - even in his darkest times he didn’t stop thinking about others. That was one of the overwhelming themes of my podcast with him last year, four months after he found out about his diagnosis. It was full of profound wisdom and pragmatism, even at a time when he was staring his own mortality in the face.
