If your child keeps forgetting what numbers actually mean try this simple hands on game. I tried this simple hands on activity with my 5 year old at the table and it finally clicked. I placed numbers 1 - 10 in front of him and gave him linking cubes. His job was to build a tower to match each number see 3, stack 3 see 6, build 6 high. That’s it. Simple, but so effective! No cubes? LEGO, blocks, even rocks work just as well. Save this for your next easy math win! Benefits of Hands On Number Play ! • Fine Motor Skills - Stacking cubes requires precise hand movements which strengthens finger and hand coordination. • Counting Practice - Each time they add a cube, they practice counting in sequence reinforcing number order. • One to One Correspondence - Matching each cube to a number helps your child understand that each number corresponds to a specific amount. • Visual Learning - Seeing towers grow gives a visual representation of “more” and “less “ which builds number sense. • Engagement and Focus - The activity is interactive and playful so children are more likely to stay focused than with worksheets alone. • Concrete Understanding of Numbers - By physically building towers, your child sees that numbers represent actual quantities, not just symbols on a page. Play doesn’t always have to be with toys. You can connect in ways that are fun for you both! This game is dots to squares and it was a regular center activity in my classroom. It’s also great to keep in your toolkit for restaurants, doctor’s appointments and any time when you have a few minutes to spare! Make dots on your paper (I use a dot marker) but you can use a regular marker. Each person also needs a different color marker. Player one makes a line, connecting two dots. Then, player two goes and does the same. Keep switching off turns. If you close a box, write your initial in it. Keep going until all of the boxes are closed! I’ll show you ways to use this for learning activities tomorrow!

Counting Cups🥤 Build number recognition, bilateral coordination, and quick reaction skills as they listen, locate, and cover matching numbers on both sides at the same time. 🔗 Comment ‘link’ if you’d like the free printable for this activity! #numbergames #earlymathskills #bilateralcoordination #reactiontime #kidslearningfun #preschoolmath #kindergartenmath #mathisfun #learningthroughplay #playbasedlearning #eceactivities #finemotorskills #grossmotorskills #mathgamesforkids #toddleractivity #preschoolfun #homeschoolpreschool #teacherideas #classroomgames #kidsgameideas #activelearning #brainboostingplay #numberrecognition #handsonlearning #movetolearn #sprinkleinlearning #freedownload #numberrecognition #preschoolactivity
