Some people stop there and use no shower liner. Using no liner requires special care and maintenance. 🚿 If you’re looking for the safest and most eco-friendly shower liner option, consider linen or hemp, as they have inherent mold and mildew resistance. However, natural materials are slow drying as moisture levels in the bathroom rise for extended periods, so mildew/mold can grow more easily if your fabric shower curtain does not dry out completely. If you use these, make sure they properly dry. 🚿 PVC, PEVA, EVA, nylon, and polyester are popular petroleum-plastic-based shower liner options, but shower curtains made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride), also known as vinyl, are the worst offenders that release the highest levels of harmful VOCs (chemicals you can smell) and have the highest plasticizers (endocrine disruptors) to make the hard PVC plastic soft and flexible.
