⬇️ Read how I did it! ⬇️ So I thought a couple people might ask about how I did this, and I don’t really think there’s any harm in sharing - hopefully some other people can replicate my method and expand on the idea, because I haven’t seen this being done too much (I could be wrong). I was inspired by an image on Pinterest; I can’t post the link because the platform is silly, but it was ‘Portal’ by GWENT, and illustrated some clever juxtaposition between a harsh desert, and a fantasy, mountainous, snowy landscape, both separated by a portal. My first thought, of course, was ‘how can I build this in Minecraft?’. And here’s what I came up with: If you didn’t already know, Replay Mod has a feature where you can save your camera path, making it possible to duplicate the camera movement in multiple, different replays. Relying on this technique, I first built a large, fantasy portal in a desert, then started a recording and used the //undo command to replicate some minor “billowing” movements, that I had pasted in beforehand, in real-time. The portal frame was also filled with a large “green-screen”, using high-contrast magenta concrete blocks. Then, I removed the screen, built up some aesthetic mountains in the background, and recorded a 2nd replay. After that, it was just a case of making the first camera path (and using BSL shaders to change the sky colour), reusing it in the 2nd, and compositing them in editing software (chroma keying, plus some colour correction - which I won’t explain here because it depends on what program you use). So, not strictly an in-game technique, but still technically a Vanilla build. I think it’s quite similar to perspective building.
