@ocean_basket_uk is a fantastic Mediterranean seafood restaurant located along the river in Kingston upon Thames. We stopped by for lunch and tried the following dishes: 🍹 Hugo’s & Pimm’s. 🥘 Spicy seafood rice. 🍤 Seafood Trio. 🐠 Royal wave platter. 🍰 Orange cake with vanilla ice cream. Ocean Basket is a South African-founded seafood restaurant with over 200 locations across 17 countries, known for serving generous portions of Mediterranean-inspired seafood at great value. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and were seriously impressed by the freshness and quality of the seafood. The squid was a standout, easily some of the best we’ve had recently, perfectly cooked and packed with flavour. The prawns and mussels were also delicious, and the hake had a beautifully crisp batter that paired perfectly with their creamy lemon sauce (which we couldn’t stop dipping into). The Spicy Seafood Rice was spicy and full of flavour, and the Royal Wave Platter is ideal if you want to try a bit of everything. To finish, we shared the orange cake with vanilla ice cream which was light, citrusy and the perfect way to end the meal. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, the seafood was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. On a warmer day, their terrace overlooking the Thames would be the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a long lunch.
