Doing a little reflecting tonight! I haven't been a professional journalist for very long. As many of you know, I started as a reporter at WXII in 2024 while finishing up my journalism degree at UNC. While still a student, I was an anchor for our school's broadcast "Carolina Week." In 2023, we did a 30-minute special edition after a student shot and killed a professor on campus. The first clip is from that special. Tonight, WXII 12's Commitment 2026 election special aired on the Very Local app. An hour-long special giving viewers a comprehensive look at 36 of the 37 candidates running for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education in tomorrow's primary election. I've grown a lot between these two specials, as you can tell! 😂 I'm proud of that growth. I work at it every single day in hopes of bringing you meaningful, impactful journalism, and I'll continue working it at. I'm excited to keep growing and telling the stories that matter most to our community. Thank you for tuning in now, and I hope in the future as well.
