Feeling really really good right now! Tomorrow is a day I’ve been praying for since I was a kid!!! I’ve always visioned myself sharing my life story on tv & in front of large crowds & it’s finally come true! My episode of Behind Every Man Season 2 premieres next week Feb 6th at 10pm EST on @owntv !!!! (If you have @discoveryplus you can watch it tomorrow! The math isn’t mathing 🤔 Cue your grandparents talking about how “back in their day” a gallon of gas was only $.31… While comparing prices from 60 years ago to today can lead to some sticker shock, the value of our dollar has changed right along with gas prices. In fact, $.31 in 1965 is equivalent to $2.77 today. 🎈 That’s inflation, baby! It is common for people to measure the state of the economy by the price of gas. And while gas prices can give us a little bit of insight into what is going on in the financial world, it isn’t always the most accurate measure. Like most goods and services, the main driver of gas prices comes down to supply and demand. If we take it back to the year 2020, the demand for gas dropped drastically as many people were staying home and driving less resulting in lower gas prices. But in the last couple of years, as travel and transportation have increased, the demand for gasoline quickly went up and the supply chain couldn’t keep up, leading to a spike in price. So what can we do to save a little extra at the tank? - Utilize cash back apps like Fetch or Upside. Some gas stations also offer their own cash back apps. Even a few cents back per gallon can add up quickly. - Carpool or look into other modes of transportation. Maybe you and a coworker can trade off driving into the office. Or a group of parents can take turns with school drop off. Public transportation in big cities can also be an economical option or walking to your neighborhood coffee shop on a nice day instead of driving can elevate your experience. - Ask your place of employment about transportation stipends that they offer or negotiate transportation benefits into your pay.
