Ravel is the most overrated orchestrator of all time (the MOOOAT). Nothing he orchestrated matches the power and beauty of 30 saxophones in perfect harmony. This is one of the more ambitious sax orchestrations I've put it together - thankfully I've had a lot of practice in the whole project took me about four and a half hours. Open practice room - spontaneous orchestrations as a pianist is always a fun challenge. It used to be something that was frightening, but I enjoy having to think on my feet and balance between harmonic choices that take as little away from the melody as possible. For me, it’s a game of getting the listener to feel the lyric even if they don’t know the song. “At first my heart tho't; You could break this jinx for me That love would turn the trick; To end my despair But now, I just can't fool; This head that thinks for me I've mortgaged all my castles in the air I've telegraphed and called; I sent "Air Mail Special", too; Your answer was goodbye - And there was even postage due I fell in love just once; And then it had to be with you Everything happens to me”

Only three of Brahms’s 21 Hungarian Dances are his own inventions — the rest rework melodies he believed to be folk music. 🎼 From piano to orchestra Originally written for piano four hands, the dances quickly spread in dazzling orchestrations. Dances Nos. 1 and 5 became world-famous. No. 5 especially — you’ve probably heard it in movies, TV, or even commercials. Some “folk themes” weren’t folk at all. I’m not crying, you’re crying 🥲 This is the prettiest score cue from Deathly Hallows pt.1 composed by Alexandre Desplat, with orchestrations by Conrad Pope. With a relatively small section of strings, harp, flute and french horn, this theme hits right in the feels once it plays in the sequence. When did you start to think about life? Before I was thirty-five, I hardly had any time to think about this question. Because life was always so busy, Work, family, handling various trivial matters... I didn‘t even have time for meetings or prayer, although I knew God would not be pleased. Until one day, I was lying in a hospital bed, unable to do anything. I sadly examined my surroundings and myself. I began to ask God: God, how should I walk the road ahead? What is Your will? Then I read this passage: God says, ”When a person is without God, when they cannot see Him, when they cannot clearly know God’s sovereignty, every day is meaningless, worthless, and indescribably painful. No matter where a person is, and what their job is, their means of survival and the goals that they pursue bring them nothing but endless heartbreak and pain that is difficult to get over, such that they cannot bear to look back on their past. Only by accepting the Creator’s sovereignty, submitting to His orchestrations and arrangements, and pursuing the attainment of true human life, can a person gradually break free from all heartbreak and pain, and gradually rid themselves of all the emptiness of human life.“ A busy life had estranged me from God. I had always wanted to make a lot of money; I had many ideals still on the way... But God stopped me, making me pause to reflect on the questions of life. What should I live for? If not for this illness, I would have walked further and further from God’s sight. What would the result have been? Now I am beginning to reflect and clean up the problems in my life.
