A living Ostara altar For this altar I arranged chia seeds and mustard seeds in the shape of a pentagram and allowed them to sprout and grow into the design. Over time the seeds became living microgreens, slowly turning the symbol into a small, growing altar that reflects the spirit of Ostara — renewal, life, and new beginnings. This reel shows the altar after the seeds have grown in, bringing the star to life. You might also notice the egg candles placed on the altar. 🥚🕯️ I’ve shared a video on my page showing the process for anyone who might be curious about them. Tag me if you make it I would love to see your creation. #ostara #altar #springequinox #ostaraaltar #witchesofinstagram

It’s that time of year again where pagans oppress themselves for no reason. Every culture has decorated eggs near spring: Africans, Slavs, Persians like take your pick. You can still celebrate Ostara and make it a spring equinox you want it to be but….. What’s is NOT: ❌Stolen from pagans to create Easter ❌Well documented and archeologically supported Britannica: “The English word Easter, which parallels the German word Ostern, is of uncertain origin. One view, expounded by the Venerable Bede in the 8th century, was that it derived from Eostre, or Eostrae, an Anglo-Saxon goddess possibly associated with spring and fertility. (In the modern era the connection between Eostre and spring has been disputed; she may have been a local protective deity rather than a fertility figure.” Eostre is not documented from pagan sources AT ALL, and turns up in only one early Christian source, the writings of the English monk Bede. The next time we see Ostara mentioned is by Jacob Grimm, a linguist and folklorist, in his 1835 book Deutsche Mythologie. Then in 1874 is the first instance we have of Ostara having hares tied to its traditions. Historian Ronald Hutton says that there isn’t “any reliable evidence for a pre-Christian festival in the British Isles during the time which became March and April.” ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Okay what’s this got to do with n*zis? Well, in their attempt to create a new national faith with mixes of Christianity and “traditional” “original” religions such as ancient Germanic, Nordic and European paganism. The myth Ostara was stolen by Christian’s was spread by white supremacists and used as a way for them to feel persecuted. They leaned towards any celebrations that emphasized purity and renewal, like Ostara. It was a very very small part of their large awful project to create a new national mythology. Also, look up what the Ostara magazine was in 1905…..yeah . . . . #witchesofinstagram #greenwitch #Easter #pagan #Ostara

I’d rather trade this world for the faery realm where nothing is quite what it seems. Oh to be taken by the fairies, with their silk thorns and satin teeth would be a bewitching beauty, like a dark novel you can’t put down. The kind that keeps you awake long past the witching hour. Better to disappear into their myth than remain human. 🕯️ Are you a fairy like me?

Blessed Ostara or Spring equinox! The word Ostara comes from the Anglo-Saxon goddess name, Eostre. Eostre represented spring and new beginnings. And what better way to celebrate than picking wild garlic flowers in the woods in Ireland? Luz e sombra caminham lado a lado. #Ostara #RodaDoAno #Druidismo #Equinocio #MagoMagnusIacobus

As with every “holiday,” there are holy days that came long before it… Rooted in the rhythms of the earth, in cycles of death and return, in feminine architecture 🌀 Walking the priestess path is about about remembering what was…and what still can be rewoven today. It is a return to sovereignty and the sacred 🌹 A journey to becoming deeply resourced within your own body, your own knowing. You begin to see beyond inherited stories and structures, and feel into the deeper truths that have been covered up to suit the likes of systems that disregard the feminine in its entirety (even though it is the feminine that creates all of Life). So…the ancient feminine pathways are not lost. They are remembered…through us, together, speaking of the older stories on days that have forgotten about the feminine. And they have been guiding women home for millennia ❤️ #divinefeminine #ostara #feminine #herstory #easter

Every year on Valborg, Sweden lights bonfires to welcome spring. It’s an old rural folk custom rooted in the seasonal shift from winter into summer, a time when animals returned to pasture and communities gathered around fire. The flames were believed to protect people and livestock, scare away predators, and drive off dangerous forces. An old spring ritual of light, protection, and renewal 🔥 . . . . . . #valborg #walpurgisnacht #ostara #oldgods #pagan

Started an Ostara weaving. It's not a circle, not an egg, but something in between. Shape is made from our Red Cedar tree, pruned last year. I spun some wool with my spinning hook and dyed it this week with pomegranate skins which I dried during wintertime. No mordant needed as it's rich in tannin. . #ostara #weaver #weaving #circularweaving #naturaldye
