Penélope Cruz talks about her “dream come true” when receiving a call for Pedro Almodóvar for the first time after being “obsessed” with him due to her love of all of his films up until then, especially Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (1989). Happy 51st birthday to Penélope Cruz 🎉✨! Over the past 30 years, Penélope been a successful actress in both Spanish- language films and English- language films. I’m sure we’ve all known who Penélope was for a long time, I definitely have, but it wasn’t until I went through her films with Pedro Almodóvar that I have the appreciation for her that I have today. She has been Almodóvar’s muse since the 90s and with the eight films they’ve made so far, they’ve solidified themselves as one of the greatest actor- director collaborators of cinema. They madly adore each other as they continuously gush over each other in interviews. I wanted to post a clip from this specific interview because it opened my eyes (Vanilla Sky reference 😆) to how much she truly loves him. In the full 17- minute interview, she must’ve praised him at length five times. As she says in this clip, her sole goal when becoming an actress was to work with him. It’s beautiful and tremendous to see how she, once a massive fan of his, has become his muse for eight films over the course of approaching thirty years, with hopefully many more collaborations to come ✨🎬❤️!
