This is how I pack stylish outfits without overpacking — every single time. I start with a 12-piece carry-on formula and then adjust from there. Think of this as the foundation, not a hard rule. Add extras based on length of trip, weather, and how often you want to rewear pieces. My core 12 essentials:
• 2–3 versatile tops
• 2–3 bottoms (add a third for longer trips)
• 1 dress that works day to night
• 1 lightweight layer
• 1 elevated jacket or blazer
• 1 comfortable travel outfit
• 1 walk-all-day shoe
• 1 dressier shoe
• 1 wildcard shoe (destination-dependent)
• 1 statement accessory
• Neutral bag that works with everything

1. You really don’t need that many pairs of shoes: Don’t pack a pair that can’t be worn more than one way 2. Versatility is the key to everything. Pack shirts and dresses that can be an outfit one day, a cover-up the next 3. Packing cubes are nice but overrated. Roll, or go home 4. Try on everything before it goes in the suitcase. Know when/where you plan on wearing it. Nothing goes in the bag without a purpose 5. A travel steamer can be worth the space depending on what you’re packing (because wrinkles = the worst) 6. Don’t pack multiple purses, and definitely don’t pack a bag just for evening. Your day bag should be a PM-appropriate size and/or have removable crossbody strap to turn into a clutch (Anything else you’re wanting to hear my take on? 😂 accepting requests below)
