We both said we wanted a big family… and here’s how it’s going. 😂👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 I still remember feeling like we had a “big family” when we welcomed our 5th child. Now we’ve supersized it and yet, some days, it still doesn’t feel that big. Funny how perspective changes when you just keep adding more little blessings. I know other large family mamas can relate- sometimes 3 feels huge, sometimes 10 feels normal, and sometimes it just feels like home. 🏡 Do you ever feel like your family size feels different depending on the day? Honestly, with eight kids, we’re finally back to the point where most people stop to tell us how beautiful our family is again. The rude comments still happen sometimes (hello Costco guy the other day) but more and more - especially now that the kids are older - people share the sweetest words. We get watched and judged, but often those same people come up later to say how much they’ve enjoyed seeing our family together. The truth is, America hasn’t seen the beauty of a big family in a long time. When most families have two or fewer kids, people forget what a blessing it can be … and sometimes, they’re just afraid of what they don’t understand. Where do you fall? What level of crazy are you at in your household?? Keep in mind when I was a mom of 1 it was amazing and the hardest thing I’ve ever done all at once. I cried when JD ran to the store to buy a breast pump because I was left alone with our newborn - and I was terrified something would go wrong. 🤣 The reality is life is easier with more. I’ve now had a newborn 8 times! I’ve seen a thing or two, and at 8 I feel a lot more confident in my abilities and where I can find the answers I need.
