Every time I visit an author house museum I usually learn surprising facts about the author’s life that suddenly make their classic work make so much more sense! All of the Brontë’s siblings died before the age of 40 at a time when the average life expectancy in Haworth was 25.8 years and it very well could have been attributed to their drinking water. Yesterday @silent_rhino and I drove through the Yorkshire moors to Haworth, better known as Brontë country. The little village was not only the home of Charlotte, Emily, and Anne, it’s one of the places I love most on this earth. Walking its cobbled streets is like stepping into a Brontë novel. I first came here years ago with my mom, so it’s even more special because it reminds me of her. 🥹✨ I’ve always loved Jane Austen, but the lives— ambitious, haunting, isolated, tragic— of these three literary sisters made me want to read books about them as much as read books by them. 🪶📚 What’s your fave Brontë book? And who’s your favorite sister? QOTD: Have you read any Brontë novels? If so, what’s your favorite? My favorite’s Jane Eyre, but I’m currently reading The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and really enjoying it! Given all the buzz/discourse/etc. around the new Wuthering Heights movie, I thought I’d put together a quick mini vlog of my visit to the Brontë Parsonage Museum a couple months ago. The town, Haworth, was dreary and gorgeous and the museum itself was amazing—I would definitely recommend going if you’re a fan of Victorian lit. Haven’t seen the new movie, and I’m not sure whether I ever will, since I’m fairly certain I won’t enjoy it.
