Most people in LA drive over this line and have no idea what it’s for. 👀 If you’ve ever been on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena, you’ve probably noticed a thin red line painted down the middle of the street. It’s not a bike lane. It’s not decoration. And it’s definitely not random. That line exists for the drivers of the floats in the Rose Parade. 🌹 The person steering the float actually sits underneath the float, where their visibility is super limited. So instead of looking out at the crowd, they follow that red line the entire route to keep the float perfectly straight down Colorado Blvd. So while everyone is watching the flowers, marching bands, and giant floats roll by… There’s someone underneath a multi-ton float quietly steering it by following a red stripe on the road.
