This is one of my top tips for a quick quilt when you’re in a pinch! Patchwork. It’s simple, it’s timeless, it’s classic. #chefskiss But my absolute HACK to making patchwork quilts is to keep 5” (or whatever your preferred size square is) on hand. I have a full bin of 5” squares in all the colors of the rainbow. That way, when I need to make a quick quilt (like this baby quilt), a huge chunk of the work is already done! 💃🏻 A friend of mine is having a baby and is due any day so I’m trying to quickly make a baby quilt. However, she didn’t find out what she is having so I’m going to be making a girl quilt and a boy quilt!🙃 But I love her and am happy to do that! I’m sure you’re thinking, “procrastinate much?” and my answer would be “yes.” 😂😂 What can I say? I am what I am. ALSO, I love using the webbing method when piercing a patchwork quilt together. Spoiler Alert: You can easily get the look of patchwork quilting without the headache of matching up your seams!! I’m going to show you how! Lay your squares out in even rows onto lightweight, fusible interfacing. Press with a hot iron. Then fold your first row RST and sew using a 1/4” seam allowance. Press all seams to go the same direction. Then snip to the seam at each intersection but do not snip into your sewing! Fold your other rows of squares RST and sew!
