Painting Rocky was incredibly challenging and a very delicate process. 🪨He had to feel like something that doesn’t exist… and yet be completely believable. 🪨He was stone not just one kind. Rocky is endless textures, densities, and colors. I worked with a wide range of references: minerals, eroded surfaces, geological formations, even materials that react to light in very specific ways. 🪨I used products that crystallize as they dry to build unique textures, along with natural sponges and layered techniques. Era de piedra pero no era una sola piedra porque hay miles de texturas, densidades, colores… trabajé con mucha referencias, minerales, superficies erosionadas, formaciones geológicas, incluso materiales que reaccionan a la luz de formas muy concretas, transparencias.. usé muchos productos que al secar cristalizan para conseguir texturas diferentes. Usé esponjas naturales, utilicé no solo acrílicos, sino también tintes de tela, escamas iridiscentes, polvos metálicos, pigmentos, resinas y barnices para crear transparencias y poder trabajar con capas de pintura que aportaran movimiento al color. Mi experiencia previa pintando piedra y mármol en otras películas fue clave a la hora de desarrollar un plan de acción para recrear lo que los directores tenían en mente.
