Our Busy Bees Smarties were absolutely exhilarated as they immersed themselves in today’s creative exploration. With vibrant paints, textured pasta, and authentic plant leaves, they crafted designs that beautifully bridged artistic expression with real-life experiences. Their engagement was remarkable; each child worked with impressive focus and meticulous attention, thoughtfully arranging every detail with pride and purpose. Thereafter, they were presented with an unexpected challenge a seemingly messy classroom awaiting order. To our delight, without hesitation or prompting, they sprang into action, collaboratively restoring harmony to their environment. Their initiative, teamwork, and sense of responsibility were truly commendable, and the objective was triumphantly achieved. So much fun.. watch till the end - I think it turned out!! This one took me way too long to prep but when we placed the final piece and the kids clapped, it was totally worth it. In my role, I run workshops for about 200 students throughout the year (enrichment and spec ed), and so almost all of them added to it somehow…this activity played with the idea that when things don’t look “perfect,” they might actually be better. 168 squares. Each one unique. Just like my students .And hidden within some of them? Messages, riddles, and poems.

During this engaging sensory activity, the children explored colours and textures using natural materials, carefully placing them to complete their artwork. With their “red lenses” activated, they also used tweezers to carefully pick up the natural sand and transfer it onto their design. This simple yet powerful action strengthens fine motor skills, improves hand–eye coordination, and builds the pincer grip — an essential skill for writing readiness. Activities like these spark creativity, develop focus and patience, and encourage problem-solving in a fun, meaningful way.
