Although this sculpture is nearly silent, it turns out that the cardboard tubes resonate what sound there is, so by putting a microphone right under the sculpture, I was able to get some audio. It is about 4 feet in diameter, and requires at least 15 feet of ceiling height to install. The 288 strings are tied onto a rotating arm in the upper structure and mapped in such a way as to make the lower part undulate in an expanding five lobed star pattern. I made it in 2008, but this video is from last month.
