79 pets left Ventura County Animal Services via adoption, rescue, or reunion with family in the last week. 94 lost animals arrived. Our dog kennels are still overcapacity, and all pet adoptions are fee-waived until further notice. We will be hosting a vaccine & microchip clinic on February 28 in Piru. We encourage all residents to microchip pets so we can get them back home to you quickly if they become lost. An exciting update: On February 10th, VCAS met with the Board of Supervisors. We were approved to accept funding from the Animal Services Foundation to continue staffing the Pets for Life program, improve our adoption program with four new positions, and one new position to start a Trap, Neuter, Return pilot program for community cats. VCAS looks forward to working alongside the very dedicated TNR community of Ventura County with this new position. As always, thank you for your support. Don’t forget to check out our Call to Action List, featuring shelter animals most in need of foster, adopter, or rescue at vcas.us/CallToActionList.

76 animals left Ventura County Animal Services last week via adoption, return to owner, or rescue. We also took in 73 lost pets, including 45 dogs and 22 cats. Our veterinary team & Pets for Life program have been busy with the Mobile Medical Unit - performing 54 spay/neuter surgeries so far! We have received inquiries for spay & neuter services from far and wide, including from out of state. Please note that the VCAS Mobile Medical Unit services will be available to residents of our contract cities of Ventura, Camarillo, Oxnard, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Simi Valley, Ventura, and unincorporated areas of Ventura County. Our approach to rolling out the Mobile Medical Unit is very targeted. Before we bring the trailer out into these areas, our team is working through TNRs and a longstanding waitlist through the Pets for Life program of about 100 pets in Oxnard. Last but certainly not least, Esteban’s wonderful co-star in this video, Scout, is a long stay resident and available to adopt! She’s met other dogs successfully and has enjoyed day trips out of the shelter to explore at the Collection and get a pup cup. All adoption fees are currently waived!
