8th Notes at 9 different tempos. Reminds me of some of the @project.jdm videos. You can see some variation in my heights here because I had to record it in two different sessions. The first 5 were recorded all in a row, and the 52.5 and above were hours later, so it’s not as consistent. Since 2018 I’ve used a homegrown technique called “Interval Sets” to create chord progressions. I wrote an article about it; see link in bio. The first public example is “Fazo Kanto” (the last track on “Akoko Ajeji”) and it uses set [444]. That set is of special interest, because unlike most of the possible interval sets, it uses all twelve tones, and is also symmetrical. In this video of “Fazo Kanto”, watch the six columns in the upper right corner, and how they relate to the trichords (three-note chords) shown on the keyboard. Columns 1A and 1B control the trichord’s lower note, columns 2A and 2B control its middle note, and columns 3A and 3B control its upper note. The base trichord is C E G#, which is a C augmented triad. Each of its notes are offset (in semitones) by a pair of tracks, A and B. Track A outputs zero or one, and track B outputs zero or two. The sum of the pair of tracks can therefore range from zero to three. The sum at any moment varies, because tracks A and B have different, relatively prime lengths: they are respectively 5 and 7 steps long, and combine to form a 35-step pattern. C is offset by the sum of 1A and 1B. E is offset by the sum of 2A and 2B. G# is offset by the sum of 3A and 3B. To summarize, the lower tone varies from C to Eb, the middle tone varies from E to G, and the upper tone varies from G# to B. This is typical of the [444] interval set, which divides the octave into three contiguous groups of four semitones each. Each pair of controlling tracks (A and B) is offset from the other pairs by one step. This time offset gives a pleasing diversity of trichords. Note however that this setup only utilizes 35 of set [444]’s 64 possible values (four cubed).
