Read the pros and cons for each and decide for yourself. ✨PHYSICAL OR MINERAL SUNSCREEN : Made of mineral ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide ▪️PROS Provides sun protection as soon as it’s applied, no wait time required Less likely to cause irritation or stinging sensation in skin or eyes Better for individuals with Rosacea or extremely sensitive skin Environment friendly ▪️CONS May leave a white cast on the skin (though there are better formulations available these days) Tends to be thicker so not an ideal formulation under make up Requires more generous application as it acts by forming a barrier against UV light Not ideal for individuals who sweat more as it can rub off easily with sweat and also can cause more perspiration ✨CHEMICAL SUNSCREEN : Made of compounds such as Octinoxate, Octisalate that absorbs UV rays instead of scattering or deflecting ▪️PROS Tends to be thinner and spreads more easily making them ideal for daily usage Leaves no white cast so generally suitable for all skin tones Ideal for individuals who sweat more, wear make up often ▪️CONS Requires 10-15 mins to become effective after application Can cause irritation in eyes in some individuals Chemical filters can exacerbate rosacea/sensitivity/dermatitis in some individuals Damage to marine life has been observed with active ingredients in chemical sunscreens ✨FINAL VERDICT ?? I’ll go first 😭 This one fooled me ngl — Dot & Key Spf. Looked promising, blended well, no white cast, nice texture… everything seemed perfect until my skin started acting weird. First it looked dull and slightly tanned, then came those tiny breakouts — thought it was just purging but nope 😩 Checked the ingredient list and boom — it had Benzophenone-3 (a chemical UV filter that’s known to irritate acne-prone or sensitive skin). And the funniest part? It’s claimed to be non-comedogenic 😭 but it literally clogged my pores and triggered breakouts. Like why would anyone put that in a “daily” sunscreen?! Anyway, that tube went straight to the trash 🫠 Acne-prone fam, drop yours below — let’s save each other’s skin barrier 😭🧴 Disclaimer: This is just my personal experience — every skin type reacts differently!
