Videos of the incident show the massive male elephant, identified as Plai Biang Lek, pausing briefly outside the shop, located along a main road near Khao Yai National Park in northeastern Thailand, before stepping fully inside. Un elefante del Parco Nazionale di Khao Yai, in Thailandia, è stato ripreso dalle telecamere di sorveglianza mentre entrava tranquillamente in un minimarket e si serviva degli snack esposti sugli scaffali. Non è la prima volta che il pachiderma, conosciuto dalla popolazione locale con il nome di Plai Biang Lek, si introduce in una casa o in un negozio in cerca di cibo. Il proprietario ha chiamato i ranger per scortarlo fuori: "Nel pomeriggio è venuto a mangiare degli snack freschi e delle uova", ha dichiarato Attaphon Chanphon all'AFP. La curiosa "irruzione" è avvenuta il 2 giugno scorso nella provincia thailandese di Nakhon Ratchasima, a circa tre ore di distanza da Bangkok.
