Blonde Plott also known as a “buckskin.” I wouldn’t believe it if anyone other than BG Hall of Famer Roy Clark told me, but this is a registered American Plott bear hound from the Laurel Mountain line. Ninety-nine percent of Plotts are brindle colored. Mr. Roy’s father and grandfather started this line of dogs in the late 1940s in East TN and this is the first blonde one they’ve seen. Buckskins can be controversial in the Plott world, they’re sought after because of their rarity, but some folks have bred in Redbone hounds to get fake buckskins. Roy Clark is a legend in the bear hound world, few men alive today have seen as many caught bears as him. I love East Tennessee. #beargrease #plotthound
