What we basically did is push the vocal a bit further away with the slower attack, then add parallel compression to bring back the thickness and punch. Best way to make a vocal louder without distorting it. If you don't know parallel compression. Route one mixer channel to a new channel. The new channel is the parallel send of the first channel. Anything you add on the new channel becomes the parallel effect of the first channel ( eg. parallel compression / parallel saturation / parallel reverb ). It's just a technique to control each effect's mix amount and character separately without affecting the original sound. In this case you're supposed to use parallel compression for your vocal as it's an extremely crucial step to make a vocal stay present and noticeable in a mix. This technique is going to be so useful for you especially if your vocal has sudden loud parts. Because the slow attack in Pro C2 pushes it further away, which is what makes it possible to add loudness and thickness with the parallel compression with absolutely no distortion ( unless you over do it ofcourse ) but If you are at a beginner stage you might not be able to tell the difference in the sound until its drastic, and that's purely because your ears are untrained at this stage. Once your ears get familiar to the plugins and what they are exactly doing to the sound, you're going to start hearing even the smallest changes in the sound which is crucial because a good mix is basically a combination of many small tweaks, not a couple of drastic tweaks.
