I’ve been doing pop-up markets for over 2 years now and here are some things I’ve learned! ✨ put your instagram QR code on your business cards just to make it extra easy for people to follow you ✨ have things displayed vertically as much as you can! So people can see them from farther away ✨ get a table runner with your logo on it! (Mine is from @vistaprint ) I used to have a sign that hung on the back of my tent but then when I did events without a tent I couldn’t use it and I didn’t have my name/logo anywhere for people to see ✨ make lil freebies for people if they follow you on instagram! I have little free stickers that I give out. I also use this as little freebies for young kids who are drawn to my booth ✨ more items = more sales (duh lol) but I started making significantly more at markets when I had a wide range of products/designs and a very full set up ✨ have a set up that stands out! I have so many people who compliment my set up and colors or say that the colors in my booth drew them out. This helps a lot with brand recognition too! ✨bring a portable charger!!!!!! ✨just buy a cart/wagon! I waited a while before I got one because it just felt like another expense but boy does it make a world of difference even if you don’t have to take your stuff very far. If you met me at a pop-up market or came to see me at one thank you as always!!! It brightens my day and truly makes me so happy!!! Each new experience is a learning opportunity... Even though my first pop up fair is a success, I feel that I could do better if I hadn't made these mistakes: 1. Not having my sticker displays at eye level of little children. I assumed that my target audience were women, not children (it's true for my online store) but I noticed in the fair that children were attracted to my store, but they didn't notice the stickers that were displayed at adult eye level. (I also learned that my online customers may be different than customers at Pop Up Fairs) 2. Not being more outspoken at promoting my social media accounts. I did this only for a couple customers. I could have gotten new followers and long term customers if they were to follow me on Instagram (I got a follow up sale from a customer who was at the craft fair and she followed me on Instagram!) 3. Be less nervous when dealing with payments - I realized that because I was rushing, I forgot to include my Thank You card with a discount code for future purchases for sales made in the fair! (That could have brought me more sales at a later time). 4. Not collecting emails. I didn't have time to set up an email collection page before the Fair. Collecting emails from my target audience at the Fair could have helped to bring me more sales at later times. Are these mistakes that I could improve on? Yes! Am I beating myself up over these mistakes? no way! I am learning from each mistake to be better each time! And I hope by sharing these, you will be able to learn from them too!
