This is a new series I’m calling “Best Food I’ve Eaten in Portland” where I showcase specific dishes and food items in Portland that are my go to favorites. For the first episode we got the Espresso Cream Puff from @laurettajeans although they’re know for their pies, Lauretta Jean’s has probably the best cream puff I’ve ever had in my life. They are seriously stuffed so full with espresso pastry cream that they feel substantially heavier than most cream puffs. It’s silky smooth and covered in a chocolate ganache that seriously takes this over the top. One of the best foods l’ve eaten in Portland! I went to college in Oregon and some of my best friends still live there (and they’re locals so these are certified recs😌) so it’s always a treat to visit the City Of Roses. Despite how many times I’ve been to PDX, I always discover something new with each trip. There are so many eateries and sights that truly make this a fun place to explore! • Here are some spots from my most recent trip that you need to add to your Portland foodie itinerary!👇🏼 ♡ Umami Café in @portlandjapanesegarden - This serene tea shop offers a relaxing opportunity to sip on some hand-whisked matcha while taking in the beauty of the gardens! If there’s one thing you have to see in Portland, it’s one of their many beautiful gardens/parks and the matcha and mochi really round out the entire experience. ♡ @tanaka_pdx - I met up with my friends for lunch here and it’s such a cute spot! If you like a toasty, crispy katsu sando, you’ll love this! I liked the spicy one and the loaded fries that get topped with a rich curry sauce are perfection. ♡ @fiftylicks - S/o to the besties for recommending this for dessert because it was so cute! Smooth ice cream with fun flavors like matcha mochi and mango sticky rice! I especially loved how creamy the ice cream was without being overly dense or too sweet. Literally everyone in Portland said “you have to go to Eem”… so I did 👀 Thai flavors meet Texas-style BBQ, and somehow it just works.Every dish was bold, flavorful, and honestly worth the hype. 10/10! Downtown Portland has a variety of amazing restaurants, food carts, coffee shops, and more, but @qmkpdx is a gem amongst them all. Queen Mama’s Kitchen is most likely Portland’s (if not Oregon’s) first woman-owned Saudi Arabian cuisine restaurant! 👑 Thank you to Queen Mama’s Kitchen for inviting me and gifting me this meal! #gifted We stopped by to try out their new brunch menu this past Sunday. You can find familiar dishes like falafel and shakshooka, but they have an amazing breakfast platter that can easily be split between 2-3 people. It comes with everything from foul made from fava beans to beef liver served with a basket of breads. If you think you’re full, think again. You have to try one of Queen Mama’s amazing cheesecakes at the Cheesecake Boutique located next door! It is some of the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. Amid dark times, Portland restaurants delivered more than their share of joy this year. Perhaps that’s why locals named the food scene as a primary reason for staying in town in a March survey, behind only nature and the weather. Few things make us more optimistic about the city’s future than discovering a world-class restaurant in our own backyard. My top Portland food recommendation 🧀 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whenever someone asks me where to eat in Portland, @cheeseandcrack is always on the list. I have been a longtime fan and honestly love everything about this spot—beautiful cheese plates, frosé on tap, and soft serve 🍦 The banana pudding sundae is my favorite, and the cones are such a good deal at only $4 for so much ice cream and a chocolate ganache surprise. Our absolutel favorite breakfast spot in Portland, Oregon is hands down @theoriginalpancakehousepdx Portland is home to THE OG original pancake house and it’s a true breakfast classic! Their menu has so many options! Our go-to orders are: omelette, pancakes and their Dutch baby. 🥞 Most of their items are $10-20! 🅿️ It’s usually pretty busy, so I recommend getting there before 9:30 or 10am to avoid a wait!
