@ford - 38k miles and the powerstroke fried itself. I’m not brand loyal, I just like cool shit and open to try any brand. I wanted to try a Powerstroke after having the bronco and Raptor and liking them. Oil piston squirter (cooling jet - check my story) fell to the bottom of the pan and starved cylinder 7 for oil. Over 2 months at the dealer absolutely fighting over warranty work and I got it back, with a new factory engine replacement and have since sold the truck to the new owner. Cool looking truck, but the failure forced me back in to a Duramax where I belong. I am pulling the exact same 40’ toy hauler with the Duramax, the 26’ L5P runs circles on that 22’ powerstroke. No offense, no BS. Just facts.

We take apart the 7.3L powerstroke diesel engine that came out of the project truck. This truck was bone stock, and the engine only had 180,000 miles on it. What could’ve caused the engine to go bad? The typical issue that lies dormant in most 7.3L powerstroke diesel engines is cracked pistons from unchecked EGT’s. EGT stands for exhaust gas temperatures, and is critical in an engine; especially a high compression diesel engine with lipped aluminum pistons like the 7.3L.
