HONEY RULES!! So I knew you shouldn’t boil or cook with honey, but I was so confused about whether I could add it to hot tea or water etc. Nidhi (@my_ayurvedic_life ) and I came up with some HONEY RULES to end the confusion! Honey Rule no1: NEVER HEAT HONEY! According to ayurveda, honey becomes toxic when heated. So never add it to hot liquids or teas, never boil it & dont cook/bake with it. honey, in ancient times, have always been used as a carrier for herbs and considered medicinal (and not used as a sweetener). Honey Rule no2: NEVER MIX HONEY AND GHEE IN EQUAL QUANTITIES! Always use 2:1 ratio of honey:ghee or ghee:honey. Equal proportions of both creates this bacteria called Clostridium B (which is also present in botox😶). It is called gara visha (hidden poison which creates toxin in long term) in ayurveda and toxic when consumed over a period of time. Honey rule no3: ALWAYS BUY RAW, PURE, UNFILTERED HONEY! Choose pure, unpasturised, unfiltered, raw honey. This ensures that the nutrients are intact. Nowadays, commercial honey that we get in market is processed with very little percentage of actual honey. I absolutely LOVE golden, crystal mountain spring honey sourced from little villages in the Himalayas! Test for good honey- Try adding a tsp of honey in a glass of water. It should sink at the bottom and become a ball. Honey Rule no4: ETHICAL HONEY We need to understand the importance of bees and beekeepers. Bees are part of biodiversity and help in the process of pollination. The flavour and variety of honey depends on the flowers, season, area, etc. (like lavender honey or eucalyptus honey or manuka honey). They are not only responsible for production of honey, but also other byproducts like beeswax, propolis, bee pollen, etc. Honey rule no 5- don’t give honey to babies under 1 year because of botulism It is said that without bees, our world would survive only 4 years tops! That’s how important they are to our survival as a species! Very important lesson to teach kids as well!
