I would love to offer weekday morning classes, solos, and privates to my high school students. But I can’t. Because school hours are mandatory. So why are dance competitions allowed to bulldoze straight through that reality like it’s no big deal? At some point, we have to stop acting like we’re powerless. When competitions add weekday schedules, pull kids from school, and disrupt family and work schedules, that is a choice. And when studio owners keep supporting it, that is a choice too. We don’t get to complain about the problem while continuing to reward it. So...choose competitions that fit your culture. Because the first time, shame on them. I really like this. Something I’ve been watching Thales 🇧🇷 do. At first, I really didn’t like this, but then I started seeing myself do it on video for clinics and privates where I was demonstrating . And it kind of makes sense in regards to having just one “impact” leaving the ground. The athletes that I’ve introduced it to so far love it and it’s something I’m going to continue to introduce in our fall and winter clinics .
