Why let Pi Day come and go without pieing a professor in the face? That’s what our Student Council ( @uic.stuco ) thought when they hosted Pi-ing It Forward today, a fundraiser for the U of I Cancer Center (@uicancercenter ). There was pizza pie and fruit pie for sale, and for an extra few bucks, you could plant a plate of whipped cream in a professor’s or advisor’s face. Needless to say, they raised a lot of dough.

Welcome to iamchelseabrooke.com y’all! I am looking forward to seeing all the beautiful ways we get to connect and learn with and from each other. I wanted a place to share my thoughts and ideas and be able to work with you! For me, this is my brave step in not hoarding the things I’ve been feeling led to share and trusting myself to just take the next most faithful step. I’m really excited for some of the offerings I’m cooking up (Black women’s Bible study anyone?) and the ways I will get to work with you as individuals. At my core, I’m an educator which also means I’m also always a student and always learning. So whether I’m preaching, professoring, coaching, reading, or writing, my hope is that my practices open up new possibilities into our individual and collective belovedness. Sooo check out the site! My 535th Reel: Professoring As I submitted my grades for a long, eventful, and somewhat traumatic semester, I am reminded about how I got through most of it because of my students. Their brilliant minds and their passions made every class feel worth it. Their fires and commitment to changing the world gave me so much hope for the future. Walking into class or lab meetings always brought me joy. I often remind people to thank their mentors and professors who changed their lives. However, today is a reminder for educators to thank their students who changed their lives too. Because I knew them, I have been changed for good. Sabe-se, além do mais, que ele passou por inúmeras dificuldades desde criança, principalmente em Hogwarts, onde sofreu constante humilhação e bull*ing por parte de outros colegas. De modo análogo, quando se observa o bull*ing como uma prática e um assunto recorrente no Brasil, tem-se o entendimento de que tal fato se assemelha à ficção apresentada.
