CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) This is the warm-up cert. PMI runs it, and it teaches you all the PMP language without throwing the whole encyclopedia at you. Perfect primer. CompTIA Project+ Light, friendly, and vendor-neutral. It’s like project management without the corporate politics. Gives you the vocabulary and flow before diving into PMP’s depth. Scrum Master (CSM or PSM) PMP leans hybrid now, so having Agile foundations is a cheat code. A Scrum Master cert teaches ceremonies, artifacts, mindset—stuff PMP now expects you to know. PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) If someone’s feeling spicy, ACP builds a deeper Agile toolkit. It’s not required, but it makes PMP’s Agile questions feel way less intimidating. ITIL Foundation Not a PM cert, but it covers service management, workflows, and governance. Helps you understand how projects land inside organizations with real processes.
