◽️PRONE Y’s & WHY◽️ This exercise is called a prone Y and it’s FANTASTIC for activating the mid and lower traps which are far less targeted than the upper traps. Fun fact: the upper traps are dominant in arm elevation up to 90 degrees (shoulder height) while the mid and lower traps take over arm elevation above 90 degrees (above shoulder height). We raise our arms to shoulder level or just below shoulder level far more often than we do overhead. This often creates strong upper traps relative to mid and lower traps. WHY should you do these? When the upper traps take over it hikes the shoulders upward resulting in less that ideal posture and may also lead to tension headaches. Decreasing upper trap tension with a lacrosse ball followed by performing Prone Y’s will help maintain a balance of strength between upper, mid, & lower trapezius muscles. This means less tension headaches and better posture (it will also help strengthen your back and ability to brace under axial load like squats!). Should you perform your seated cable row like the way Arnold does it in Pumping Iron? Well, kinda. He leans forward and rounds his back during the exercise and while it is exaggerated, the idea behind it makes sense. Allowing controlled movement through the upper back, helps the shoulder blades fully protract. This creates a better stretch through the mid-back and allows you to train the muscles through a fuller range of motion. In this video, I explain how to apply this properly so you can get more out of your rows.

Should you be doing Bent Over Rows or Pendlay Rows? Personally, I prefer the Pendlay Rows for strength and Bent Over Rows for hypertrophy. Both have their place in training, but if you have a specific training goal, one of these might be better suited for you than the other. #functionalbodybuilding #functionalfitness #hypertrophy #buildleanmuscle #leanmusclemass #backworkout #pendlayrow

Stop making these common seated row mistakes! 🚫💪 If you want to maximize back growth and protect your spine, your form needs to be locked in. Here’s the breakdown: •Posture Check: Don't lean back and overextend your spine (top video). Instead, keep a slight, natural curve in your lower back and stay upright to keep the tension on your lats and rhomboids. •Shoulder Blade Movement: The real magic happens with scapular retraction. Don't keep your shoulders static (bottom video, top view). Focus on pulling your shoulder blades together as you row to fully engage the mid-back muscles. Small tweaks lead to big gains! 🔥 #GymTips #SeatedRow #BackDay #FormMatters #FitnessMotivation #GymMistakes #BuildYourBack #WorkoutTips #Bodybuilding

Back exercise seated row machine know the difference between 3 grip variations. Neutral Grip primarily target the Middle Back Muscles.
