Use Us. Vs Them When Closing The Sale In sales, you need to balance staying neutral with pushing for the sale when a prospect is ready. My favorite way to close is the “Us vs. Them” technique. We position ourselves on the prospect’s team. Any concessions we ask for depend on us, the salesperson, fighting for them. The catch: we will only vouch for them if they commit in writing right now. Otherwise, “Them” (the other side/management) won’t take us seriously. This technique aligns both parties, helping the prospect move forward, and adds scarcity, maybe we only have one product/service left, and they’ll only give it up if they get a commitment today.
