Customizing my Prosthetic Leg with me! Learning how to 3D model and print has been such a a challenge over the past couple of months super excited to make more of this content and make more legs! Can’t wait to style this one in different outfits! What leg would you like to see next?

It’s probably time I show you how this works. Before I walk out the door, this part happens first. I forget sometimes that most people have never seen how a prosthetic leg actually goes on. Just part of the routine. 🦿 #prosthetics #amputeeathlete

It is not uncommon to be asked frequently in public to explain myself. There I am just wanting to blend in with the crowd and watch my children run around the yard collecting Easter eggs with a hundred other children and their families. Instead, having a visible physical disability draws attention and people of all ages feel the need to ask these questions. I've been doing this for over 40 years now 😂... it does get old..... Sometimes I answer people's questions, and sometimes I don't. To be honest, I don't owe anyone an explanation for why I look this way. My response to the interrogation depends on my mood, their tone with me, whether it's a child or adult asking, and how much of a hurry I'm in at the moment. Frequently, I will just make my own jokes, whether they understand them or not. My favorite to "Where is your leg?" is to reply, "Agh. I left it in the car. Do you want to go get it for me?" 😂 This is actually true as I usually have my prosthetic leg in the trunk of my car if I'm not wearing it. Usually, the person who asked the question doesn't find my response very funny. They usually respond with a look somewhere between confusion and horror. 🤣 This is my life... 🙃 How do you handle awkward questions from strangers? #amputee #amputeelife #oneleg #borndifferent

@trenubb and I back at it 🤣 He was actually one of the first people that I taught how to do a wheelie! Tre had never sat in a wheelchair that he could reach the wheels in, so this was a very eye opening experience for him!😅 Any predictions on what he tried next? Wait… you have to charge a prosthetic leg? 👀 For Gini, the answer is yes — because her prosthesis is powered by a microprocessor knee. These systems don’t just support movement — they learn it. Analyzing motion up to 100 times per second to adapt in real time, whether you’re walking, stopping, cycling or catching yourself from a stumble. It’s technology working with the body — not against it. As part of Limb Loss & Limb Difference Awareness Month, we’re breaking down the everyday realities behind prosthetics. 💬 What would you want to know about microprocessor knees? She is much better off now! I took this video one year ago thinking this would be the last time she would experience her toes in the sand. You see she was born with a condition called fibular hemimelia and both of her feet were severely deformed. We were told by two different doctors that the only treatment for her would be bilateral amputation and prosthetics. We were devastated but willing to do whatever it took for her to have a successful life. We ended up finding a doctor who said he could save one of her feet. And he only needed to amputate one. We were thrilled and she had a very successful surgery! So now we take her back to the beach where we thought she was going to lose both of her feet. And she only had to lose one. She is walking great with a prosthetic leg and is thriving with her new treatment. So now, even though she is crawling in the sand rather than walking. We know she is much better off and is doing so great in this new life. I am so proud of her and I know she is doing amazing things in this life ❤️ #amputee #childamputee #specialneedsadoption

I CAME HOME WITH A PROSTHETIC LEG TO FIND MY WIFE HAD LEFT ME WITH OUR NEWBORN TWINS — BUT KARMA GAVE ME A CHANCE TO MEET HER AGAIN THREE YEARS LATER. I don’t usually talk about this, but what happened still doesn’t feel real. I’m 35. I came home from service with a prosthetic leg and one thought kept me alive the whole time—my wife, Mara, and our newborn twin girls. I didn’t tell her I was coming early. I wanted to surprise her. Instead… I opened the door to a house that didn’t feel like ours anymore. Empty walls. No furniture. Just silence. Then—crying upstairs. I forced myself up to the nursery and found my daughters screaming in their cribs. And my mother—shaking, exhausted—trying to hold them both. “Mom?” I said. “Where’s Mara?” She didn’t answer. Just kept whispering, “I’m so sorry… I’m so sorry…” Then I saw the note. “I’m too young to waste my life on a broken man and changing diapers. Mark can give me more. As for the babies—keep them.” Mark. My best friend. That night, I sat on the floor with my daughters in my arms and made one promise: they would never feel abandoned again. Three years passed. Pain. Work. No sleep. Learning how to be everything for them. But I made it. And then—last month—I saw something that stopped me cold. Their names. Both of them. Together. On a single document. Not a photo. Not social media. Something official. Something final. I read it twice. Then I folded it carefully, got into my truck, and drove straight to their luxury house. I didn’t rush. Didn’t hesitate. Because this time—I wasn’t the one being left behind. I stepped out, document in my hand, walked to their front door, and knocked. Because they were about to face ONE SIMPLE FACT.
