Sorry kids, but this song was too good not to blast at full volume in the batting cage. 🎵 Layered music with bilateral stimulation does something specific to your nervous system. When you have sounds moving between your left and right ear, it activates both hemispheres of your brain at once. That cross-lateral processing helps your system shift out of survival mode. Your brain gets busy integrating the input instead of scanning for threats. This is why some music hits different when you’re dysregulated. When sound moves back and forth between your ears, it can help calm your nervous system faster than just listening to regular music. Your body craves this kind of input when it’s overwhelmed. Bilateral stimulation through sound, movement, or touch helps your system regulate when nothing else is working. So....YEP, I’m that mom blasting music at batting practice because my nervous system needed it. My kid will survive the embarrassment (and maybe join in??!). The second round of public consultations on the Families Bill, 2025, took place today in Corozal Town, as the government continues to seek public input on the proposed legislation. This follows the first round of consultations held previously in Belize City. The comprehensive Families Bill is looking to consolidate several existing laws, including the Family Courts Act, the Families and Children’s Act, and the Married Persons Protection Act. According to Minister of Human Development, Family Support & Gender Affairs, Thea Garcia-Ramirez, the bill is a transformative step to strengthen support systems for families, children, and the elderly.
