͙͘͡★𝘍𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘚𝘰𝘯 ☁︎𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘣𝘰𝘸 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘦, 𝘓𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘯, 1974 ⚜️One of the most emotionally charged moments from Queen II, performed at a time when Queen were still defining who they were and how far they could go. ⚜️ Just yesterday, Queen announced the upcoming Queen II Collector’s Edition, a newly remixed, remastered, and expanded release of their 1974 second album. Due out March 27, the box set will include a new 2026 mix, session outtakes, backing tracks, BBC recordings from 1973–74, and powerful live performances from the Rainbow Theatre and Hammersmith Odeon. ⚜️ “Queen II was the single biggest leap we ever made,” Brian May reflected. It was the moment the band began recording on their own terms, pushing past limitations and leaning fully into ambition, complexity, and imagination. ⚜️ Roger Taylor described it as a turning point in their sound, pioneering layered vocals and massive choral textures created with just three voices. A palette that felt almost orchestral, yet deeply human. ⚜️ Written by May, Father to Son sits on the album’s “Side White,” and live, it carries an added gravity. Here, at the Rainbow, you can feel the strain, the devotion, the generational ache. Freddie Mercury doesn’t perform it lightly, he inhabits it. This isn’t spectacle. It’s confession. ⚜️ With this reissue, Queen II reopens not just as an album, but as a moment when four young musicians reached for something vast and somehow touched it. 🎤 Queen live at the Rainbow Theatre 📍 London, 1974 🎶 Song: Father to Son 🎬 Footage: @officialqueenmusic 🎥 Edited by me for creative/fan purposes © Queen Productions Ltd. ⚠️ Tribute only-no copyright infringement intended. #QueenII #QueenBand #FatherToSon #FreddieMercury #QueenLive

#Queen #QueenII #BrianMay #FreddieMercury #QueenForever 🎥 @brianmayforreal

NEVERMORE (Take-6) Already added every single track from the new Queen II Collector’s Edition to my playlist… and I swear I’ve had it on repeat all day. Can’t stop, won’t stop 🎶✨ Queen II was the single biggest leap we ever made,” says Brian May. “That’s when we really started making music the way we wanted to, rather than the way we were being pushed into recording it.” “With Queen II, I couldn’t believe how much work we put into it,” adds Roger Taylor. “I think we felt we were evolving our own sound. We were pioneering this sort of multitracking thing. It gave you a tremendous pallet, massive choral effects with just three of us singing.” The task of remixing Queen II for this new edition was in the hands of the trusted team of Justin Shirley-Smith, Joshua J Macrae and Kris Fredriksson, who worked on the Queen I reissue as well as several other past releases from the band, with Brian May and Roger Taylor acting as executive producers. “The idea was to reveal more of the clarity of the songs,” says Justin Shirley-Smith of their approach. “Rather than add anything, we wanted to reveal more of what was there and get that desired sound.” “The lengths the band went to achieve what they achieved with the technology they had at the time was incredible,” says Joshua J Macrae. “Some of it is so ahead of its time. Working on this was like entering a room of fabulousness.” “I wanted to give it everything – to be self-indulgent,” said Freddie Mercury at the time. “But the whole band in particular, we don’t go in for half-measures and I’m pretty hard with myself. There are no compromises.” Originally released in the UK on March 8, 1974, and in the US on April 9, 1974, Queen II still sounds extraordinary today. Bold, brave and madly ambitious, it’s the work of a band whose self-belief, vision and ability were unmatched. OTD — 8 March 1974 (52 years ago) 👑✨ Happy anniversary to one of the greatest Queen albums, Queen II! This album is fascinating with its “White Side” and “Black Side”, two contrasting worlds of sound. The White Side is melodic and dramatic (“Procession,” “Father to Son,” “White Queen”), while the Black Side dives into darker, heavier territory (“Ogre Battle,” “The March of the Black Queen,” “Seven Seas of Rhye”). Here’s a clip of Ogre Battle — Live at the Rainbow Theatre, one of my favourite performances from this era 🔥 Credits: 🎬 Video footage: @officialqueenmusic © Queen Productions Ltd. Small correction on this post: this clip is actually from Queen live at the Rainbow in November 1974, not March 1974. By November, the band had already released Sheer Heart Attack, “Killer Queen” was becoming their breakthrough hit, and Queen were beginning to move away from the darker, fantasy-heavy sound of the Queen II era into something bigger and more theatrical. But “Father to Son” still carried all of that early heaviness with it. Written by Brian May for Queen II, the song opens with layers of harmonized guitars before exploding into one of the heaviest riffs the band ever recorded. Freddie Mercury moves between soft piano sections and full-force screams, Roger Taylor sounds almost proto-metal behind the kit, and John Deacon holds the entire thing together underneath. #queenii #queen #liveatrainbow #newrelease #rock
