🍕 Day 1 of ‘Prep for Ramadan’ is here! Every day until Ramadan, I’ll be sharing the things I’m doing to get my heart, home, and kitchen ready. From spiritual habits to meal planning, freezer prep, and family routines… it’s all part of the journey. For the past few years, I’ve done this series for 30 days. But this time I’m going for 60. Mostly because I genuinely love sharing helpful tips with you… and also because let’s be honest, Ramadan prep takes more than just a few days. Daily routines, simple printables, freezer-friendly meals, Ramadan schedules for kids — I’m trying to make life a little easier for myself and hopefully for you too. It’s a lot to post every day while working full-time and raising kids, so your duaas and support mean a lot. This series is something I do from the heart. I tie it in with a charity each year. Let’s do this together, inshaAllah. ⸻ 🍕 Pizza Dough Recipe (perfect for batch prepping!): • 1 cup warm water • 1 tbsp sugar • 1 tbsp active instant yeast • Let it foam for 10 mins. Then add: • 2 tbsp olive oil • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour • 1 tsp salt • Mix, knead, and let it rise 1 hour. • Roll it out, top it, and bake at 400°F for 12–15 mins.

✨Ramadan Freezer Prep: Marinated Chicken ✨ I’ve never done this before, but I feel like this will be a complete game changer. Who can attest to this? 🔸 Here’s the breakdown 🔸 Chicken breasts cubed, 2 lbs in each bag: Pesto Chipotle Boneless chicken thighs, 2 lbs in each bag: Shawarma Gochujang Chicken legs and thighs, 12 pcs in each bag: Hariyali Peri Peri •Mix with marinade right in the freezer bag. •Each marinade recipe has a moderate amount of salt, but I would suggest testing a tiny piece and adjusting the salt before cooking. •After defrosting, air fry, bake, or pan fry. •Pair with rice, pasta, vegetables, pita, salad…anything you want! Ramadan just isn’t complete without sambusa/samosa 🤍
 We prepped 120 so far! And to save time, we used tortillas instead of fresh homemade sambusa wrappers. 
We used regular tortillas and some gluten free ones for me. The gluten-free tortillas were a bit harder to wrap because of their texture, but they still worked! (I won’t be frying them) Filling ingredients * ~1.5 lbs ground beef * 1 onion (finely chopped) * 1 bell pepper (finely chopped) * 4+ garlic cloves (minced) * Fresh cilantro (finely chopped) * salt & pepper *Somali xawaash
(toasted blend of cumin seeds, coriander seeds, clove, cardamom pods , black peppercorn, cinnamon bark, turmeric) Make the filling Cook the ground beef in a pan (do not overcook) Add garlic, onion, and bell pepper Stir in cilantro and Somali xawaash to taste Cook down a bit making sure the mixture stays dry (no extra liquid) Let the filling cool completely before wrapping Making the sambusa Stack tortillas Cut them like a pizza into 4 equal triangles Each triangle = one sambusa Take one tortilla triangle. Fold it into a cone shape. Use a sealing paste (flour + water) to glue the edge closed Add beef filling inside the cone( don’t overfill or it won’t close properly) Add more paste to the top remaining flap Fold it down to seal and complete the triangle You can fry in oil, bake in oven/ airfryer immediately or freeze for later..perfect Ramadan prep 🌙✨ #ramadan2026 #ramadanprep #muslimmoms #somali #muslimsofinstagram . . . . . . . . . .
