🇮🇳 This rover was built by students. This is a GPS-denied rover built by Team Anveshak. They built this for the Caterpillar Autonomy Challenge at Shaastra, IIT Madras. This rover, called Isaac, can detect and avoid obstacles in real time using a Dynamic Window Approach, it can excavate sand and construct stable berms, it can plan paths intelligently and execute tasks using a map formed with an RTABMAP algorithm, and it can move through shallow water and mud. Isaac also has a Controller Area Network system which is the shared internal communication system that lets all of the rover’s parts talk to each other so it can move, sense, and operate as one machine. Team Anveshak won first place in the Caterpillar Autonomy Challenge, and CAC is going to be happening again on the 3rd and 4th of January, 2026. CAC is part of Shaastra, Asia's largest student-run techfest. Shaastra will be happening from the 2nd to the 6th of January 2026, and there will be more than 100 events, workshops, talks, and shows.
