Bad news: Fake ORS ban has been paused by the Delhi high court. ORSL has been allowed to sell 180 crore of their stock first. These fake products have up to 10 times more sugar than real ORS, and can be dangerous for kids. Most people don’t know that ORSL is owned by Johnson & Johnson. These international companies have massive resources and they are known to hire the most expensive lawyers. I personally also have multiple cases ongoing from international companies for the past few years, and I know how difficult it can be. I request all Indians to unite and support us in our fight against false marketing that can be life threatening. Fake vs Real ORS! In recent years, many beverages such as fruit-based drinks, ready-to-drink “hydration” solutions, have been marketed using the term ‘ORS’. These drinks often carry high levels of sugar and do not adhere to the medically recommended formulation of ORS by the WHO ❌ After nearly 8 years of tireless campaigning by @drsivaranjanionline , FSSAI finally acted. In October 2025, the authority issued a directive stating that no food or beverage product may use the term ‘ORS’ (or any variation) unless it meets the required medical-grade formulation. However, the regulatory story took a turn when the Delhi HC granted interim relief to JNTL Consumer Health (India), which indirectly is owned by Johnson & Johnson. The court directed the FSSAI to review the company’s representation before enforcing the ban, allowing its products to remain on the market in the meantime.
