🎓 Want your recommendation letter to actually stand out? Admissions officers don’t need more adjectives—they want anecdotes. Those little classroom moments only your teacher has seen—like asking thoughtful questions, helping classmates, or leading a project—make you memorable. 💡 Encourage your teacher to share your story, not just your grades. #collegeadmissions #collegeprep #HighSchoolStudents

Teacher recommendations can make or break a competitive application... but only if the teacher actually knows who you are beyond your grade. Colleges don’t need a letter saying you’re a "good student.” Your transcript already shows that. What they do want is insight into your curiosity, effort, growth, and character in the classroom — things only a teacher who genuinely knows you can write about. If you want strong letters next fall, now is the time to show up: ✔ participate ✔ ask questions ✔ build relationships ✔ demonstrate resilience ✔ put in the extra effort Great recommendations aren’t last-minute favors. They’re earned through consistent engagement. Follow for more advice on building a competitive admissions profile. #collegeadmissions #letterofrec #highschool #ivyleague #junioryeartips

Debated whether or not to post this video because I personally dislike when students beg for higher grades, and I know lots of faculty who feel the same way. But I also believe in encouraging students to advocate for themselves. I think the real key here is more a question of *how* you approach the issue. You can be kind and respectful while still advocating for yourself. P.S. Thanks @jgtalksorg for the thoughtful post. To be clear, I think she makes reasonable points. I’m just offering a potential counterpoint that seems worth considering. ❤️ #college #collegeadvice #professor #teacher #grades

Comment ASSESSMENT to get a copy for yourself! 📝 We’ve got to stop taking papers home to grade! No student is going to remember what they wrote the day before (or last week 😅). Here’s how it works: 📝 Grab a clipboard and walk around while students write. ✔️ Put checks for what you see (intro, topic sentence, transitions). ❌ Mark X’s for what’s missing. By the end, you’ll know exactly what every student needs help with! No grading pile and no waiting days to give feedback. This tool makes it so easy to conference the next day and give immediate, meaningful feedback that your students can actually use. #TopScoreWriting #TeacherTips #WritingTeacher #ImmediateFeedback #GradingMadeEasy

When it comes to grades, colleges are looking at the whole picture, beyond just one semester or one stressful moment. From the start of 9th grade through the middle of senior year, your academic journey tells a story of growth, effort, and consistency. And yes, that first semester of 12th grade still matters (even when applications are taking up all your brain space)! The good news is that colleges are reading transcripts alongside considering course rigor, trends, and everything else that makes you who you are, so they are gonig to see so much more than just that one difficult class or that one rocky semester. The final transcript of senior year, should you choose to submit it, is simply your way of showing how you finished strong - which is a great testament to the effort and care you put into your coursework. If you’re feeling unsure about how your grades fit into the bigger admissions picture, you don’t have to figure it out alone. We’re here to help you understand what matters, and why.
