I’ll be honest with you about how the Swedish recruitment works, make sure to like and follow for more info about life and career in Sweden. Swedish recruiters and hiring managers LOVE proactivity. If in your country you just sent one generalized CV and cover letter for a job and that was all, you just waited until you heard about them, well, that’s not the case in Sweden. In Sweden, just like while studying or working (we’ll talk more about this later), a lot of responsibility falls on you. Sending your application and waiting is not an option. After you send the application, you should reach out to the hiring manager (preferably sending an email with your CV attached) to see if they are available for a little chat because you’re very excited about the role. And, exactly, you NEED to be excited, and this needs to show in your CV and cover letter. Nothing generalized, nothing vague, nothing template-like you want to send. If you get an interview, look at it as a relationship-building conversion, not an interrogation towards you. Smile, engage, ask them questions, comment on what they just said, remember if they shared anything personal and follow up on that right then and after the interview. Right there you can add something from your life to show that you understand what they just shared. You want to build the relationship with that person, not with the company, because it is that PERSON who will hire you. After the interview, follow up on that personal and professional piece that they mentioned. If they said that they’re planning to visit Greece soon, then you can say hey I remember that and here are the list of place you must see in Greece.
