Our story wasn’t straight forward. Last year we “red shirted” my eldest. Sent in the forms to say we were going to hold him back and complete TK at our amazing local preschool. We did that and I homeschooled him any extra he needed for kindergarten. I thought maybe we would be ready to try school if we just had another year. We weren’t. He wasn’t. So this summer we grabbed the forms located on the Harford county website. Filled them in on the computer and sent them back to the homeschool office for Harford County. Easy as that. We are independent, meaning I haven’t found a co- op and we are not under an Umbrella school. If someone would have ever asked me how this year went... I’d be like... not very great, but for myself I’d did better than last year as an athlete, I worked my ass off the whole summer and when I came to college I sworn I was ready, but unfortunately I got red shirted, which I thought was just the worst thing in the world, to me I know I’m ready to play, I dominated throughout practice, and ik it’s practice, but you can see that I’m working hard, that my work ethic was better than others, even the redshirting me kept me another year of eligibility, I really wanted to take on the field as a starter. Throwing is about passion. With that passion comes the peaks and valleys. So often, the balance sheet feels like there are more bad days than good days. Cade Feist certainly understands this as well as anyone. His story has taken him from St Paul to Rochester to Mississippi to Northfield and back to St Paul. From a promising high school senior year to JUCO to D3 and now, Division 2 competition. Of course, this year he red-shirted which is not as easy of a year as it may sound. Anyone who has spent any time with Cade understands his passion. He wears it outwardly. His good days. His bad days. His ugly days. That’s throwing for many of us.
