This was the start of the season and I was reeved up! It got real intense. Thank god my work finished for me. Between opening a new shop, momming a busy, brilliant 5 year old and 50 Gorgies. At several points I didn’t think I was gonna make it out alive. This by far was my most challenging jammed packed prom season. But with constant prayer, sleepless nights, some tears (I’m a cancer) and outbursts, I MADE IT THROUGH! If I must say soo myself I did my BIGGEST ONE yet, my Gorgies ate down ‼️ This season every single dress was a hit, not one miss. I have to give a huge shout out to my aunt that never lets me down (I flew her here, she helped every way she could) and @byronmoxy (stitch king), yall pulled me out the lions den. To my little one for baring with me through this hectic time and my family and friends for the constant support. Although I provide an experience when you choose Sew Gorg, little did my Gorgies and parents know how much joy they provided me with this season. I love what I do and try to convey that with each client, I feel every year but this year yall poured love and motivation into me…I thank yall for that. So after 5.5 long months I finally get to take a moment to regroup (tomorrow) lol. With that being said I truly thank each one of my clients for choosing me each and every time. Have you ever heard of a core eye? Most main lines install onto yarder drums with a flat cut end…BUT, the line must first be threaded and reeved to get to the drum. To accomplish this, we install a core eye for this brief handling period. A core eye is just as it sounds…we take the core alone, extended from the main wire rope body, and we swaged an eye in it. The point is to make an eye that is small and will only see a relatively light load. An eye such as this would NEVER be used for lifting, or in critical applications. You might think we could splice a standard eye into the wire rope, then have the operator cut it when it's up there, but a full eye is too large to pass through the equipment properly. Similarly, hauling the line with tie wire or something similar has been known to cause problems (mostly slips and breaks). So instead, we take the core of the wire rope being used for the winch line and install a small turnback eye. We wrap the unfinished segment just below the eye with bailing wire and then smooth it down with electrical tape to make sure the wire rope doesn't unravel during this process and to keep things easy for the field team. Again, this eye would never be used for lifting a real load — it's only used to raise the wire rope up to the winch drum so it can be loaded on. Special applications get special solutions! Once it gets up there, the logging team cuts the wire rope so it has a flat end, ready for connection to the drum. #Logging #WinchLine #TrusttheLift
